Anthony Emmolo takes a fully immersive approach to his art seeing the experience that leads to the creation of a work as part of the work itself. In Support of Above

The silence of the world of Asian temples would be the perfect setting for sincere self-study and self-expression. Knowing this, Anthony moved his studio to Taipei, Taiwan with the aim to remain in Asia for ten years. The year was 1988; he was 24 years old and had just graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City...

Since that point in his life, he has visited many countries, walking everywhere with his sketchbooks. Writing notes and drawing pictures helps to open his mind to a world of different sights, sounds and smells that are uniquely Asian. He paints some of the objects that have come closest to his heart. The refined handle of a Chinese calligraphy brush with its horsehair. Teapots and Sake pots that were there with him during his moments spent with friends and the moonlight. Many of these treasures traveled with the artist to The Great Wall of China, Yellow Mountain, along the Yang Tze River, to Korea and Japan, to temples and on train rides throughout the countryside, as drinking tea has long been his way to commune with nature, or with the people of a village.

An object loses significance when it is displayed as a part of a large group. In a Zen temple, the Japanese monks will display one piece of pottery on a shelf that could hold many. In this way the pottery is revealed and the viewer is able to celebrate the color, texture, its perfections and imperfections. This is the essence of Emmolo’s work.

After a six year Taipei, Taiwan experience, the artist moved to Kyoto, Japan where his art changed forever. "The refined impressions of Kyoto are a teacher in themselves. They feed a person with a harmony of color, space and texture in a way that I've not seen in any other culture." When he visited a Noh drama theatre for the first time he saw clearly that divinity can speak to a person through art. It was on that evening that he created the aim to never pick up the paintbrush until he could "be there" with the brush. "And that is when painting took on a higher meaning for me."

In the year 2003, after four years in Northern California, the artist embarked on yet another Asian experience. This time home became Shanghai, China. Shanghai, a modern city bustling with 20,000,000 people is situated an hour or so away from a number of classical Chinese villages. It was there that Emmolo could penetrate some of the deepest of the ancient Chinese arts. Tea ceremony, dance, flower arrangement, sculpture and painting became his newest interests.

It was in Shanghai that he created his beloved Art For The Heart, which is a charitable project that allows his art to serve society.

Hines

The beautifully nebulous quality of Hines artwork captures a visceral moment that begs to be seized. Much depth is achieved through the composition of colors as they transition through a range of values lending to a sense of voluminosity with passages waiting to be explored to a far off distance that can be seen through an fading diving line. The colors themselves are transcendent and calming in their ethereal environment. Coming from a background that places him at the epicenter of two of the biggest movements of Abstract Expressionism, New York and San Francisco, Hines has distinguished himself through a fusion of multiple influences. The Artist Hines is a full time artist living and painting in Sausalito, California. Hines began as a pencil artist but in 1994 he began exploring painting. By 2000, bored with the rigidity of representational painting Hines became interested in abstraction and began studying works from the New York school of abstract expressionism particularly the artists Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Barnett Newman and Franz Kline. 

In 2003 Hines moved to the Bay area to be with his now wife, Dinene. He joined the Artists Guild of San Francisco and began regularly exhibiting his abstract paintings. His abstract paintings evolved to include mixed medium, collage, figurative abstraction and what he terms “intuitive painting.

“Boundless Color”

In June of 2010 responding to changes in his personal life and wishing to return to a more classical approach to painting, Hines decided to abandoned texture and focus on color and expressive brushstrokes. The edges in his paintings softened or disappeared at the same time he began to intensify and expand his range of colors. The style of these new paintings is ethereal having an atmospheric, sometimes celestial feel to them, reminiscent of J. W. Turner. Hines’ approach to color and blending creates beautiful transitions of colors while his flowing brushstrokes express the spontaneity of emotion and movement.

Pietro Piccoli

This time we stick with the same theme of European port cities as we did in the last post but in a new vein as we discuss recently introduced artist, Pietro Piccoli. Piccoli has taken a classic theme and popular style of modern impressionist painting and reinvented it with unique broad brushstrokes and palette knife applications that abstract the environment with cubist undertones. Often times he will experiment with the way light dances on the trees in the foreground giving his painting a unique sense of depth and lush amount of color. Pietro Piccoli was born in 1954 in the small town of Montopoli di Sabina in central Italy. At a very early age, he became fascinated with the arts and, at the age of sixteen, was enrolled by his parents in Latina's high school for the arts.

Luci e Vele a Bosa Sardegna

By the age of twenty, Piccoli was off to Rome, which in the early 70's was an exciting place for a young artist. It was a hotbed of new ideas and on the cutting edge of the international art scene. Piccoli immediately immersed himself in this new environment, experimenting with new ideas and absorbing the innovative concepts of the many artists whose studios he frequented and to whom he apprenticed himself. Moreover, for a year or so, he traveled in the north of Italy and visited Paris and Zurich.


The 80's comprised a second period of active experimentation in Piccoli's career. He investigated new mediums and sought new ways of weaving together the major strands of his style, realism and abstraction, visual detail and imagination. Variously, he tried impressionism, expressionism, and fauvism. Within ten years, he had found a definite direction toward the synthesis he was seeking. His colors became brighter, his brushwork more free. Soon he began adding patches of pure abstraction as a sort of "out-of -focus" overlay in front of the pure landscape. These patches serve as a visual relief from the strongly geometric architectural forms. In his most recent works, the subject matter has become incorporated into the abstraction.

Ramon Pujol

Ramon Pujol is back. This celebrated artist is now featured once again in the gallery and his works can be seen here, www.hansongalleryfineart.com. As an accomplished and classically trained oil painter from Spain, Pujol likes to capture the idyllic beauty of port side cities throughout Europe. Within this distinct colorful style he captures a serene and underpopulated city with sparse clusters of boats so he can to show off his true talent of being a reflectionist painter and play with dancing waves of color. Ramon Pujol was born in Olot, Spain in 1947. His family met his early talent as a gifted artist with encouragement and clear acceptance. From a very early age, paint brushes and colors were his favorite toys. Pujol says that an artist is born, is made and develops. As such, his first academic training was at the Escola de Belles Artes de Olot. From this training he was granted the opportunity to study under the masterful teaching of Luis Carbonell and later Gussinye. 

Ramon Pujol admires the styles of many different artists like Cezanne, Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec, and especially Monet and Manet. His main influence, although, is nature. The colors, changes in the light, luminosity and opacity inspire him to depict amazing light reflections on water. Initially, Pujol insisted on the use of the palette knife gave way to systematic use of brushes. With his change his paintings began to reveal a deep understanding and interpretation of depth, light and atmosphere.

The meticulous style of Pujol renders a level of distinction that sets his work apart from other painters. As such, he has received gold medals at the Autumn Salon in Marseille, France and the International Salon in Evian, France in addition to countless awards in his native country of Spain.

The Colors of Portofino

Pujol prefers to stay away from abstract painting because he feels that understanding is a very important part of art. It is essential for the artist and the spectator to share a common bond when looking at a painting. Viewers of Pujol's art can easily see his love for the beauties in nature and his adoration for travelling to exquisite spots all around Europe. He journeys to Portofino, Venice and La Spezia, Italy every year, along with northern and southern Spain. He also enjoys visiting Paris, Holland, Switzerland and Greece.

Ramon Pujol has had an impressive number of exhibits. His first show was in 1965, when he was 18 years old and now he has had over 130 in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Majorca and Washington, just to name a few. Tim Cantor

Once in a great while an artist comes along that revolutionizes the art world in a completely unique and innovative fashion and Tim Cantor is just that. His works tell compelling stories layered in metaphor and symbology often focusing on the perseverance of the human spirit and within the past eleven years poetry now accompanies his work lending context to an ever expanding reservoir of expression and creativity. Starting as young as age six Cantor quickly gained momentum as an artist and by the age of fifteen already had a piece entered into the White House. Beauty's Privilege

Tim Cantor was born north of San Francisco in the summer of 1969. In 1975, Tim Cantor’s father recognized his son's uncommon knowledge with drawing and went into his attic in search of a box of oil paints and brushes that once belonged to Tim's great grandfather. Tim immediately began painting with the same supplies that his British ancestor had made a way of life with as he traveled throughout Asia, Europe, and America nearly a century earlier. Tim’s comprehension with oils was instantly visible, and his obsession began. His first oil painting came at age five.


By age fifteen, Tim Cantor was given his first gallery exhibition where one of his paintings was acquired to hang in the White House, thereby instigating an immediate demand for his unusual talent. Throughout the following years, his paintings would travel the world with exclusive exhibitions in Athens, Tokyo, Singapore, Paris, Venice, New York, Beverly Hills and San Francisco. Creating meaningful works of art became intertwined with his survival, his desires, and his greatest affections. The majority of his time creating his paintings has been lived in the solitude and quietness of night. Thusly, his underlying concentration gained a connection to his personal senses that aided in the development of his own writing style that explains much of the profound imagery within his compositions.


While the future of his art is unknown, what can be assured is the determination that he has to his undeviating obsession; an obsession that was born into his infancy and has dwelled in his blood without end; an obsession that merged with the fondness for his bride Amy, and will forever embody that love in the painted images that exist because of her adoring bond.


Today, the diverse enthusiasts and collectors of his art comprise of people from all parts of the world. If he lives an average length life, he will likely have one of longest authentic art careers known. One could say that this mysterious artist possesses a rare combination of extraordinary talent, unpredictability, and pure artistic nature to set his name in the history books of tomorrow. Yet for now, Tim Cantor keeps far from the madding crowd, shrouded in his studio, painting every night from midnight until morning.

Fernando Alcaraz

The brilliance of Fernando Alcaraz's works are in their simplicity. Beachscene

Fernando Ibañez Alcaraz was born in Alcoy, Alicante Spain in 1969. As a child he was drawn to the artistic side of life which drove him to begin studying forms of art at the age of 15. For six years Alcaraz worked under his mentor, who was also an artist and teacher, studying artistic techniques and focusing on his drawing abilities. At this time he also began attending classes at the local art school, Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Alcoy.

Although his years of studying left him with skills and interests in pastels, watercolor, and pencil drawings, Alcaraz chose to focus his studies in oil painting.

Alcaraz has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions throughout his career along with winning several awards for his inspiring canvases. In 1985, he placed second in the IV Concurso de Careles de Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos in Ibi, Alicante; he exhibited his work at the Encuentro Mundial for the Fraternidad Hermana, in the Palace for Exhibitions and Congress of Granada in July 1992; in October 1992, he exhibited his work in a collective exposition in the Sala de Arte EMECE of Alcoy; in 1994, he participated in a collective exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura of Sollana in Valencia; and in 1996, Alcaraz participated in the Sala de Arte EMECE of Alcoy’s Grand Collection of Contemporary Teachers of Realism.
Ancient Spanish villages with their stucco buildings and tiled roofs, budding roses growing along weathered walls, and romantic beach scenes are Alcaraz’s forte. His unique use of light and shadow create depth against his textured canvases. Viewers are enticed with the reality of his subjects and feel as though they too are able to experience his soft-hued, quaint Mediterranean afternoons.

Knot #44R

My work stands as a reminder of the connection between man and nature, even as the world around us becomes increasingly removed from this essential and most basic union. While the metals I use are clearly man-made, the result of my collaboration with them is a blurring of the divide between nature and structure, space and form. This results in a strong symbiosis between the formal elements of my sculpture and it’s surroundings, both architectural and natural.

My work in sculpture is highly linked to the process of transformation. I consider the potential energy of my materials and lure out of them the sensual and organic forces of nature. I blend emotion with form, allowing the work to evolve, probing shapes, investigating their capacity to change. I seek to reveal the nature of the material, allowing it to take on a life of it's own.

I create art that challenges people’s expectations. My sculpture embodies the tension between stasis and impending movement; despite its weight and volume, or perhaps because of it, metal can dance and even suggest song. Ideally a viewer engages with my work on a subliminal level enabling them to have an experience of a uniquely personal nature. I work with Cor-ten steel, stainless steel, bronze, and carbon steel. These diverse metals, with their varied looks, suggest forms individualistically.

Fragile Thoughts

Internationally known simply by his first name, Javier was born in Alcoy (Alicante), Spain on Christmas Eve, 1957, and soon began demonstrating his prodigious creative gifts.

At the age of 16, he was enrolled in the noted academy of Mila Gomez where he studied and perfected his technique under that classic Spanish master.

Upon graduation in 1976, he became a professional artist, eventually achieving international recognition, first at an international exhibition in Granada, Spain in 1982; then later at other international exhibitions, notably in Chateauroux, France in 1996 that led to the introduction of his work to the United States in 1997. Since then, his work has been regularly shown in New York, Atlanta, Sausalito and Washington, DC.

His art has been acquired by major collectors worldwide from a Saudi Prince to corporate executives in Saudi Arabia, Japan, Jakata, Bahrain, Holland the United States.

Carolyn Reynolds

Many years ago at the request of a client, Carolyn Reynolds created a commission incorporating gold leafing and immediately fell in love with the medium and has produced a great many works with gold or silver leaf serving as the backdrop for her beautiful and expressive paintings ever since. The mastery she wields over this delicate metal is unparalleled and this month she is being featured for the first time in our gallery alongside her son, Eon Burchman whom she has passed down this unique trade to. Carolyn has been painting, drawing and sculpting since she was a child. Graduating from University of California Irvine with a BFA Fine Art and Art History, Carolyn believes her nature themed pieces bring a healing quality, as well as a sense of well being, harmony, and tranquility through her subject matter and use of color. 

Laguna Canyon

Having been commissioned to do an Asian themed art piece Carolyn fell in love with Gold and Silverleaf as a medium. She now works almost exclusively with the medium.

The physical process begins with coating and sanding the canvas until it becomes a silky surface. Then she smooths on a traditional red paint, lays the gold or silver leaf, and coat it with layers of varnish. Using the finest quality sable brushes, Carolyn paints layer upon layer of paint and varnish developing the image until it culminates in a moment of light! Carolyn's biggest inspiration is her grandaughter who paints anything and everything she can imagine.

Eon Burchman

Morning in the Vines

Creative in many forms of expression ranging from sculpture to jazz music, Eon Burchman is an diverse artist with his leafed paintings being the most accomplished of his works. Carefully applying gold or silver leaf to a specialized canvas is already an achievement in and of itself but then Eon gives the viewer a subtle and peaceful place to escape into through the application of translucent, and sometimes more opaque, layers of oil. His subject matter much of the time focuses on hummingbirds whose spiritual and majestic nature lend well  to his lofty mediums. Throughout his life, Eon Burchman has surrounded himself with creativity in a family of artists and musicians. At the age of eight he picked up the guitar and began to take music as a main focus. Through High School and College Eon focused on the guitar and jazz improvisation. He also assisted his mother Carolyn Reynolds in her creative process on public art projects. These consisted of combining steel figures, fabric and various sculpture with texture mediums and painting concepts. Eon assisted Carolyn in the discovery of working with gold leaf on canvas, learning through experimentation and refinement of this process. This unique blend of medium rapidly grew in appreciation and public demand. Eon immersed himself further in technique and process and was able to partially fund his music studies, receiving a Masters in Jazz Music Studies. He eventually began to paint his own pieces working with gold leaf on canvas as a basis for his images. His work was displayed along side Carolyn at art festivals and in galleries. 

Living in Long beach CA, Eon has shown in galleries and received recognition through magazine articles and press releases. He has expressed his love and appreciation for natural landscapes and seascapes in his work on both gold and silver leaf. Even though he focuses on this multi medium, Eon continues exploring new combinations of materials and imagery to find new ways create his visions.

Alfredo Navarro Montllor

Upon gazing into Alfredo Navarro's pieces one can see the dual nature that is the sea, its awe inspiring mystery and its tranquil beauty. As the course of the day unfolds his pieces retain their own luminescence as if they go by their own time. Having been an artist since he was a child, Navarro chose Seascapes as his dominant theme after being commissioned to do a mural while serving in the Spanish Military. Blue and Calm

Alfredo Navarro was born on the eastern coast of Spain in the city of Alcoy (Alicante) in 1965. Initially inspired by his father, Navarro attended the art school of Escuela Municipal de Bellas Artes at a young age. He continued his education in Valencia where he received a degree in economics at the Valencia Univeristy as well as an art degree from Circulo de Bellas Artes.

He then returned to Alcoy to paint and apprentice under the painter/teacher Selles. Also a painter, Navarro’s father taught his son the techniques of oil painting. Navarro’s younger brother accepted their father’s art training, too. At age 19, Navarro began painting professionally and in 1986 received first place in an art exhibition sponsored by the Government Delegate of Galicia in Galicia, Spain.

Navarro considers his technique somewhere between Realism and Hyperrealism. His studies provided an admiration for the artists Velazquez, Picasso and Greco. Navarro respects Velazquez for the artist’s ability to capture the soul of a person in a portrait and the colors and atmosphere used to create the paintings. Picasso and Greco are admired for their bold creativity and expressive colors. Such creativity, expressive colors and atmosphere can be found in Navarro’s striking sunsets, sweeping seas and foaming waves. Inspired by the vastness of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, Navarro paints seascapes of undulation as well as seascapes of tranquility. With great artistic emotion and power, he captures waves crashing against rock formations. He paints translucent waves gently rolling into shore as the evening’s sunset pierces through the water. His calm seas mesmerize viewers with the ocean’s expanse, or the feeling of a warm sun dancing on the water, or an endless horizon.

Thomas Easley

Tall in the Morning Light

Thomas Easley was born in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains where he spent his youth enjoying the deep woods and grand vistas in and around the Lake Tahoe basin.

Easley did not go to art school. He is a self-taught artist whose successful career spanning 30 years and three continents has taken him from the snow capped Sierras of his childhood to the verdant hills of England, the canals of Venice and the banks of the holy Ganges in India.

Each location has provided Easley with insight for his inquisitive mind and inspirationfor his blend of painting styles and techniques: In England he painted illuminations, miniatures and portraits, in Italy he painted nudes, architectural landscapes and floral still life, India’s mysticism made him delve into dimensional realism, surrealism and allegorical works.
Since Easley’s return to the United States, he has focused on wine still life paintings that are reminiscent of the warmly lit rich style of European masters and energetic roosters filled with attitude and elegance. He also paints textured cityscapes, landscapes and sensual nudes in his Extreme Impressionism style.

Adair Payne

The Dance of Autumn

Nobody can capture landscapes in breath taking fashion quite like Adair Payne. Combining his lifelong passion for nature with his background in graphic arts Adair captures with meticulous accuracy the beauty and spirit of the landscape. He has the unique ability to present us with scenery that balances the conditions of light and shadow in such a way that it grabs our heart and pierces our soul, much in the same way as if we were right there. Adair Payne is native of Northern California, from the community of Lincoln in the Sierra Nevada foothills northeast of Sacramento. He began painting the local countryside at an early age, being commissioned by local collectors and land-owners. While his creative direction was unusual in the time and place of his youth, he was compelled to speak for the land, calling attention to the natural world around him.

Taking a brief hiatus from creative work just after high school, Payne served a voluntary mission for his church in Argentina for two years. He then resumed his artistic education with a major in graphic design. In spite of his connection with the land, at that time he preferred the idea of a busy and interactive creative environment instead of the solitary work of a studio painter.

After receiving his BFA from Brigham Young University, and after a brief stint as a graphic designer in Los Angeles, Payne was hired as an artist and graphic designer by the an agency in Washington, DC. Before too long Payne preferred to be back in the wide open space of the West. He then gradually moved into a career in commercial illustration, specializing in colorful and lavishly illustrated story maps for corporate clients as well as the tourism industry. A short list of his favorite clients includes Crystal Cruises, Visa, Intel, Honda, Chrysler, Delta Airlines, Lucent Technologies, and Motorola.

In more recent years, Payne's career has come full-circle back to his roots, now focusing his energy entirely on painting his native landscape. His objective is to record the visual impressions of a rich, unique, and gentle land that is quickly becoming increasingly developed and exploited. 

The artist's philosophy is fairly straight-forward, motivated by a deep connection to the land that nourished his spirit and body from the beginning, returning something of appreciation which he hopes inspires others who contemplate the Northern California landscape. Consistently, Payne's finished art has a pervasive sense of tranquility, reverence for the natural world, and often an element of solitude and retreat.

Payne is fairly obsessive about the emotional effects of light on the landscape. Typically, very early morning light and very late sunlight are his preference, though he's also fascinated with the moodiness of fog and California's seasonal thick, humid atmosphere.

While he is essentially self-taught as a painter, his approach to painting has evolved over a lifetime, influenced and informed by years as a graphic designer and illustrator. A viewer may first notice the artist's attention to detail. However, the overall design, the visual energy of the composition and its emotional impact are his key concerns as he begins work. He is equally versatile in watercolor and acrylic, but his large landscape work is always executed in oil since it provides the ideal working properties for his preferred subject matter and style.

Gail Morris

The beautiful minimal landscapes of Gail Morris evoke the impressionable, the essence of a place as one would remember in their mind’s eye. Gail had the unique fortune of having a background in the commercial industry that allowed her to accumulate a lifetime of inspiration scouting the California landscape so that when she poured her heart into her work she was ripe with ideas of elegant shapes and vivid colors. Santa Clarita

Landscape painter, Gail Morris, has won many prestigious awards for her paintings. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Morris' work as a visual artist has taken her on a number of extraordinary adventures around the globe, from the Navajo lands in New Mexico to the Dogon villages of West Africa. She is a member of numerous art and environmental groups that are dedicated to the preservation of agricultural lands and open space. Josef Kote

Trained in art in Albania, Joseph Kote relocated to Greece to further pursue his artistic endeavors. Finally he crossed the Atlantic to live in Toronto and now resides in New York leaving his impressionable mark upon the art world everywhere he has lived. He has an abstract expressive style rendered almost entirely with the strokes of a broad paintbrush that bring to life a beautiful balance of uniquely muted tones and warm brilliant highlights. Summertime II

In 1964, a star was born. In the scenic port town of Vlore, Albania, modern master Josef Kote emerged eager to share his unique vision with the world. Kote began a journey towards artistic self-discovery in his youth and never looked back. Discovering his artistic talent at the tender age of 14, Kote entered a competition to secure a spot at a prestigious art school. He was subsequently accepted into ''The National Lyceum of Arts” in Tirana, where he began in earnest to pursue his traditional European Art school education. He studied there for four years.

Desperate to turn his passion into a viable career, and knowing the importance of further training, Kote decided to take his talent to university. He entered another competition and was again awarded entry, this time at the “Academy of Fine Arts of Tirana.” In 1988, Kote graduated from the Academy, receiving his Diploma in Painting and Scenography. The same year, Kote also produced a small but well-received animated film entitled “lisi.”

In 1990, he relocated to Greece and began working as a freelance visual artist. In this new environment, Kote’s style evolved and flourished. During the decade he resided in Greece, Kote was acknowledged by numerous prestigious artists, as well as public and private collectors. His elevated status in the art world led to many great commissions. In the year 2000, for example, Kote was commissioned by the Greek community of Toronto to paint the likeness of the visiting President of Greece, Konstantinos Stephanopoulos. 

Always looking to widen his scope, Kote moved to Toronto immediately following the infamous Stephanopoulos commission. Toronto proved an easy transition for the artist. Not one to wait for good fortune to fall in his lap, Kote took to the streets right away, marching into Toronto’s top galleries.
For the next ten years, Kote continued to garner critical acclaim. The artist saw his dream develop before his very eyes; the fruits of decades of labor fully realized. In 2009, he began his most recent artistic and spiritual journey, and for the third time, completely uprooted himself. He landed in The Big Apple, one of the greatest hubs for cultural and artist expression there is. 

Today, Kote still resides and paints in New York City. But who knows what beautiful permutations the future holds for one of modern art’s greatest voices.

Jaline Pol

Jaline Pol has been featured in our gallery for close to a decade and has been loved and collected by visitors from all over the world. She has a remarkable passion for life that is clearly reflected in her use of vibrant colors and the intense dimensionality of her work. Having been classically trained at the same school of Impressionism that Degas, Renoir, and Monet were trained, Jaline Pol takes the patient medium of oil paint to a whole new level in an active seizing of the moment through use of a pallet knife. Emotion of Happiness

The reaction to Jaline Pol's work is immediate and intense. She is one of the finest contemporary French impressionists of our time. Jaline has been influenced by many of the places where she visited or lived. These places include France, Cameroon, New Caledonia, the Middle East and Bora Bora. JalinePol was born in Northern France in 1946.

She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Her colors are bright and daring. A myriad of warm tones catch the eye and bring a smile to the face of the beholder. They evoke and provoke a happy mood.

Some of her bouquet paintings are almost monochrome in which she experiments with various tones and shades of a color, highlighting and reinforcing each one through the 'contrast' with another nuance. Her colors represent the seasons: spring yellows, summery reds, autumnal ochre and sienna, winter blues and whites. These latter 'cold colors' are particularly effective as they create a reposeful, comforting ambience that is pleasing to the spirit.

JalinePol works exclusively with a palette knife which renders a three dimensional relief, giving the illusion of sculpted paint. She masters thick layers of paint on the smallest to the largest of surfaces, from the leaf of a flower to the vast expanse of meadow. One is attracted to the tactile nature of her works and this often provokes a desire to 'pick the flowers'. She even taught palette knife technique at group workshops in her hometown of Lille, France.

Realism goes hand in hand with illusion and fleeting impressions. One could be walking through a field of poppies and yet it is almost as if you can see the wind. Her style is inspired by the great masters of the Impressionist movement, but has evolved and developed giving her works a unique, original feel and touch. Movement suffuses her works. They exude the dynamism of marching armies, rippling waters, swaying cornfields and dancing flowers.

JalinePol's talent knows no bounds - skillful use of her technique, harmonious mélange of colors and thought-provoking, poetic titles. Nothing is left to chance. Her artistic mastery is confirmed in her career of over 30 years.

Archie Held

Archie Held is a world renowned metal facbricator that we recently had the pleasure of carrying in our gallery. He is well known for his water walls and water sculpture for private and public displays but he has created hundreds of sculptures in various metals from steel to bronze.  He works closely with his clients and has an astute eye for perfection in each commission he executes. Seen here is "Plum" which we carry right here in the gallery. Father and Son

Archie Held is an internationally recognized artist who has been creating sculpture since the late 1970s. He studied at UCLA for both his graduate and undergraduate degrees. The Archie Held Studio, founded in 1985 and based in Richmond, California, has produced over 500 pieces of artwork and currently employs a team of 10 talented artists and metal fabricators. Archie works primarily in bronze and stainless steel; water is often used as a central element to further complement the simple and elegant designs. The appeal of his tranquil creations has led to several private as well as public art commissions. He enjoys working with clients on custom site-specific projects and welcomes collaborations with designers and architects.
